Mast

Places masts, cantilevers and creates wires and wire overlaps.

Places overheadline structures, masts.

  • Structure type can be selected from a library.
  • Structure locations are calculated using the geometry. Spacing of the masts are determined by the curvature or reduced spacing in the curves.
  • Structures can be placed at a user defined offset and side.
  • Side of the mast can be changed after placement.

Creates cantilever assemblies.

  • Cantilevers are created according to the placement of the mast and the geometry. Push-Pull assemblies are automatically selected.
  • Creates alternating push-pull placement in the straight sections and creates only push or pull cantilevers at the curves depending on the mast location and curvature.
  • Placed cantilevers and push/pull configuration can be changed after placement.
  • Cantilevers are automatically updated when there is a change in the geometry.

Creates wire runs.

  • Wire location is calculated based on the geometry.
  • Wire stagger is applied based on the selected cantilevers.
  • Overlaps are created at the end of wire length, using the selected overlap definitions.
  • Different overlap types can be selected for straight and curved parts of the geometry.
  • Overlaps can be removed by deleting one of the cantilevers in the overlap.
  • If structures are edited, wires are automatically recalculated and reconnected to cantilevers.
Note: Double cantilevers to be used in the overlap zones are predefined in the overlap definition.
Note: When there is a change in geometry structures will automatically follow the new location. But their stationing (spacing) or overlap locations will not change. To update the structures completely, use "Replace Existing" option and recreate the affected portion.

Workflow

From the Display rail placement tools, select Mast to start the place a mast tool.

  1. Select the mast type from the library.
  2. Select a pull cantilever definition.
  3. Select a push cantilever definition.
  4. Specify the offset.
  5. Set the straight overlap.
  6. Set the curve overlap.
  7. Specify the maximum wire length.
  8. Datapoint to select the track.
  9. Datapoint to select the reference track.
  10. Datapoint to select the start distance.
  11. Datapoint to select the end distance.
Note: Track is the track that will be used to place the masts, calculate mast offsets. Reference track is the track that will be used for span calculations. Track and reference track can be selected as the same geometry for a single track design. However, in a multitrack layout while placing masts onto different tracks, the same track can be selected as the reference track so that mast locations will be synchronised.
SettingDescription
Offset Offset of the mast to the selected track.
Mast Side Places mast left or right side of the track.
Place Single places a single mast, multiple places multiple in the selected range.
Replace Existing When selected, replaces the mast structures that are already added to the model.
Straight Overlap Overlap definition use in the straight/tangent portions of the geometry.
Curve Overlap Overlap definition use in the curve/arc portions of the geometry.
Maximum Wire Length Maximum length of a wire run. An overlap is created if the wire length exceeds this length.
